Color Us Ready For The New Year

We don’t know about you, but Block 37 is tickled pink (and blue) over the recently announced PANTONE colors for 2016. Yes, you read that correctly… colors. As in more than one! If you haven’t met them already, allow us to introduce: Rose Quartz and Serenity. It’s the first time PANTONE has ever named two unique tones as their Color of the Year – and we think it’s a perfect match.

The warm and cool colors mix together like ying and yang to create a feeling of order and peace – and what more could you want during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season? Put your mind at ease and calm all that last minute stress with these fantastically festive and fashionable finds from the shops of Block 37. Bring it on 2016!

The stockings were hung by the chimney with… these simple spa-approved treats. Ok, that’s not exactly how the poem goes, but we think it’s about time they update it. Sephora always saves the day (365 days, actually) with their Color of the Year Matte Lipstick. The shade above is Serenity, but if your lips are already blue enough from all this cold weather – it comes in Rose Quartz, too! (But why choose when you can get both?) Speaking of cold weather, Jack Frost can do a number on your skin. Bonne Mere Soap from L’occitane and Sabon body scrub make sure that your entire body stays soft and smooth, while Kocostar Nail Therapy keeps your hands looking straight from the spa.

Gifts aren’t the only things that need to be wrapped up! The Serenity-inspired tones of this hooded wool coat from Zara and pom-pom cardigan from Anthropologie remind us of that cool seasonal nip, while the pinks and roses of Anthropologie’s Blushed Colorblock and Essa coats help melt away the ice. Either way, they all promise to make you feel warm and fuzzy, both inside and out. Throw on Anthropologie’s Isabeau Earband as the cherry on top, and you’ll be ready to go walking in any winter wonderland.

And we’re not just talking about tinsel along the mantel and ornaments on the tree. It’s easy to get so caught up in making sure that everything around you sparkles and shines in just the right way, that you forget to decorate the most important thing – yourself! You’ll see the season through rose-colored glasses with Fendi’s retro shades from Sunglasses Hut – and let’s face it, we all sometimes need a little holiday optimism. If you do find yourself taking on the crowds, pull your hair back with some Zing hair ties from Anthropologie, throw the Selma Hobo Bag over your shoulder, also from Anthropologie, and show all that hullabaloo who’s boss. The blue topaz ring from Local Charm makes a lovely gift (for others and for yourself!) and the Pas de Deux Bracelet from Les Néréides will have visions of sugarplums dancing in the heads and on the hands of any lady, young or young-at-heart.

For those a little bit quirkier on your list, this Candy Monster Kitten ring from Les Néréides is the purr-fect present.

You know what they say – home is where the heart is. And if your heart belongs to design, then your home is going to be covered in Rose Quartz and Serenity in 2016. After the gifts have been opened and all the guests have gone home, pour yourself your favorite seasonal sip in these Gilded Rim Glasses from Anthropologie or cute ceramic mugs from The Trendy Sparrow. And if that’s not coffee in your mug, we promise not to tell Santa. Then sit back, relax amongst some Anthropologie Crystal Dendrite throw pillows, and reflect on your favorite memories from 2015. (Hint: the more you pour, the funnier the memories become).

If you’re willing to spend a little extra on your home in the New Year, this Rosen Textile Wall Art from Anthropologie will set a sweet and stylish scene for 2016.

We can’t talk about the Colors of the Year without talking about New Years Eve. It’s the perfect time to show the world that you’ve already gotten a jumpstart on 2016 style. You’ll be pretty in pink in both Akira’s Hi Neck and Sweet Melody Peplum dresses, and the Ainkia Kimono Dress from Anthropologie will set you apart from a crowd of partygoers in the most elegant and eclectic of ways. Elvis (and everyone else) will love your Steve Madden blue suede heels and the pom-pom pumps from Akira will look stunning when your leg pops during that lucky New Years kiss.

2016 looks good on you, Block 37!
